A fire door is a door that has a fire-resistance rating, meaning that it is designed to resist the spread of fire or smoke between a building’s compartments, hence helping to ensure that such buildings can be escaped in the event of a fire. Fire doors can be wooden doors, but can also consist of steel or glass sections. Although fire doors are usually designed to remain closed at all times, some are intended to stay open in normal circumstances, and only close automatically should a fire start. It is important that regardless of which method is used, there is no block to the movement of such wooden doors from doorstops or other obstructions. If a fire door is rated, this means that it has been tested to withstand a fire for a stated period of time.

Here at Kaybee Doors, we sell a range of fire doors and internal doors, made out of materials such as oak, walnut and plywood and available in various different sizes. These include our Regency and Colonial white oak fire doors that are 30 minute fire rated, also having the option of raised moulding on both sides. These are supplied unstained so that you can choose your own finish. Topping our present range, meanwhile, are walnut and oak prefinished glazed internal fire doors which come fully finished in a High Quality satin lacquer which really brings out the beauty of their materials’ natural appearance.
